“HOW COULD NETWORKING POSSIBLY GROW MY BUSINESS?”
I’ve heard it a lot – business owners don’t seem to think that networking is a relevant way to grow your business anymore, and also think that it is outdated, there are better ways to advertise, and that it’s too time-consuming.
I disagree.
If you only go to one meeting expecting to land a sale, you’ll end up frustrated and think that networking doesn’t work. That mindset just isn’t the way to utilize this strategy.
Networking is about building relationships.
I know it works. Personally, I went from having a business that was barely hanging on, to one that constantly had business coming in from people that I know. After that, doors opened up, and I had more opportunities that I had ever thought possible. Here are a few simple things to think about:
• Get to know other business owners in your community, and understand that you are NOT ALONE in the struggles that you are facing in this entrepreneurial journey.
• People do business with those they LIKE, KNOW and TRUST. When you show up consistently and get to know them, they’re more likely to do business with you.
• If that person doesn’t have a need for your service, they will refer you to others that may need it! With referrals, you can bypass part of the “Like, Know and Trust” factor by having a trusted 3rd party be that voice.
• In combination with other marketing efforts, networking can be the first way that people get to know YOU – the person behind the business.
Be yourself. It will go further than you think.
